The School identified an exciting opportunity to enhance the ZAC’s beauty and functionality – the addition of a hardscaped outdoor patio. Located just outside the great room, the patio provides a dry surface that supports indoor/outdoor events and offers additional space for athletic fans to watch games that are played on Deering Field. Alumni are offered the opportunity to take part in the project through an engraved brick fundraiser as part of The Fund for Friends. The James L. Zamoiski '68 Alumni Center (ZAC) is a cornerstone of the Friends School campus. Named for beloved alumnus James “Jimmy” L. Zamoiski ’68 and designed by alumna Becky Swanston '69, the building holds hundreds of meetings and events throughout the year for a wide range of community members, including alumni, parents, students, and employees, as well as our many volunteer boards. Since opening in 2003, the ZAC has served as a special meeting and event space, and has provided a curated display area to showcase our history as well as the accomplishments of our students and alumni.
